Products & Quality
What paper do you use?
We print on 300 g museum-quality art paper. This is a heavyweight fine art paper with a matte, uncoated finish. Unlike glossy paper, it doesn’t reflect light, so you can view the artwork from any angle without glare. The surface has a subtle texture, similar to traditional artist paper, which enhances the richness of colours and makes every detail feel tactile. This type of paper is often used in galleries and museums because it is acid-free and age-resistant, ensuring your print will look as good in 20 years as it does the day you receive it.
Where are the prints made?
All our prints are produced in Spain at a professional printing house that specializes in fine art reproduction. We partner with local printers who use cutting-edge inkjet technology designed for art prints (sometimes called “giclée” printing). By working locally, we can closely monitor quality, support fair production practices, and reduce shipping distances. Every print is checked by hand before leaving the workshop.
Do the colours match what I see on screen?
We use colour-proofing systems to ensure accuracy, but it’s important to note that every screen displays colours differently depending on its brightness, calibration, and type (phone vs laptop vs tablet). For example, an artwork may look slightly warmer on one device and cooler on another. Our process reduces these differences to a minimum, but slight variations are possible. Think of it as the difference between seeing a painting in person vs in a photo: subtle shifts, but the essence and balance of the artwork remain true.
What inks are used?
We print with archival pigment-based inks, which are specially designed to resist fading. Unlike regular dye inks, pigment inks sit on top of the paper fibres, giving deeper blacks, sharper edges, and long-lasting colours. In normal indoor conditions (away from direct sunlight), your print will last over 80 years without visible fading. For extra protection, you can frame the print with UV-resistant glass or acrylic.
How do you ensure quality for each order?
Every print goes through a multi-step quality control:
- Digital proofing – we calibrate the file and test the colours.
- Printing – handled by a technician, not an automated machine.
- Inspection – the paper is checked for any marks, misalignments, or imperfections.
- Finishing – trimming, mounting, and framing (if applicable).
- Final check – before packaging, each piece is approved by hand.
Frames & Passepartout
Is framing included?
Yes. When you purchase a print and a matching frame in the same size from our store, we assemble it for you at no additional cost. This means you’ll receive your artwork already framed, ready to hang on your wall the moment it arrives. Our framing process includes careful alignment, dust-free assembly, and secure backing so that the print sits perfectly flat inside the frame. If you choose to add a matching passepartout (a decorative border that sits between the print and the frame), we will also mount this for you, ensuring a professional gallery-style finish. This service is included because we believe art should be enjoyed immediately — without the hassle of taking it to a framer.
Anything I should know about passepartouts?
A passepartout (sometimes called a mat or mount) is the border that surrounds the artwork inside the frame. It provides visual space around the image, enhances the presentation, and helps protect the print from direct contact with the glass. When we mount a print with a passepartout, we use professional archival framing tape that keeps the artwork in place with perfect precision. Because of this technique, the print is very secure, but it also means that removing or replacing the print later can be difficult and may risk damaging the paper. For customers who like to frequently change their prints, we recommend ordering without a passepartout. For those who want a permanent, gallery-like display, the passepartout option is ideal.
Are there any size exceptions?
Yes, there are a few important exceptions. Due to the weight and scale, we currently do not offer frames for our largest print sizes: 100×100 cm and 100×140 cm. These prints are delivered rolled in protective tubes and can be custom-framed locally if desired. Additionally, passepartouts are not available for frames in size A1. This is because a passepartout at that scale does not provide the structural stability needed to keep the artwork flat, and it may compromise the overall look and safety of the piece. All other print sizes can be framed and mounted with or without passepartouts as you prefer.
